Vintage 1941 MIDO Multifort Ref. 220 Bumper Automatic - Near-Mint Original Dial

$749.00

Up for sale is a stunning, collector-grade 1941 MIDO Multifort (Reference 220) bumper automatic. This wartime-era Swiss timepiece is an absolute time capsule, surviving in a condition rarely seen for utility watches of this age.

The standout feature of this piece is its 100% factory-original white dial in near-mint condition. Unlike most dials from the early 1940s that suffer from heavy moisture damage, aging, or poor modern repainting, this dial remains incredibly clean, crisp, and beautifully preserved. It features striking black Arabic numerals and its original, heat-blued steel hands that brilliantly catch the light.

The Details & Provenance:

The Case: Encased in an unpolished, "rustless" stainless steel case manufactured by the legendary master casemaker Taubert (formerly François Borgel). It bears the iconic British Patent 385509 mark on the case back, signifying the historic decagonal waterproof case design that revolutionized 20th-century watchmaking.

The Movement: Powered by an untouched, original MIDO Caliber 817 (17 jewels) bumper automatic movement (MOD. 1941). The bumper mechanism is running perfectly, winds smoothly, and keeps excellent vintage time.

The Crown: Features its completely untouched and original stem/crown, preserving the exterior visual integrity of the watch exactly as it left the factory.

Recent Care: To ensure this watch is ready to wear and appreciate, it has been fitted with a brand new crystal for flawless visibility, a fresh internal caseback gasket to protect the untouched movement from dust, and a brand new premium leather strap.
